RTV Silicone Rubber

RTV Silicone Rubber has one or two functional groups at both ends of the molecular chain (sometimes in the middle), under certain conditions (moisture in the air or an appropriate catalyst), these functional groups can react to form High molecular weight cross-linked structure.

According to its vulcanization mechanism, it can be divided into condensation type and addition type.

Features

One-component RTV silicone rubber:

RTV-1 glue is used as adhesive together with polysulfide rubber, urethane rubber, etc., but RTV-1 glue has the following characteristics:

1. All components are mixed and packaged in a container. As long as the rubber compound is extruded, it can be vulcanized into an elastomer when exposed to moisture in the air, which is convenient for application and coating;

2. The temperature has little effect on the viscosity of the rubber compound, and the same operation method can be used regardless of the cold winter or the hot summer;

3. According to needs, it can be made into a viscosity-flowing product for use as a coating, or a non-flowing thixotropic product, which can be used for vertical gap sealing;

4. Maintain rubber elasticity in a wide temperature range (-60°C to 300°C);

5. Excellent adhesion to most substrates, better adhesion if primer is used;

6. Humidity has little effect on vulcanization hardness;

7. Excellent electrical performance;

8. No heat absorption and no heat release during vulcanization;

9. Excellent resilience when compressed or stretched;

10. Except for acetic acid type and ketoxime type, it is non-corrosive, and the vulcanizate is chemically inert;

11. Excellent heat resistance, cold resistance and weather resistance;

12. It can be made into transparent products, and can also be made into various colors.

Two-component RTV silicone rubber:

Compared with RTV-1 glue and other two-component systems, RTV-2 glue has the following advantages:

1. It is more convenient to use, without heating and pressurizing equipment, just mixing the base compound with the catalyst, it can be vulcanized into an elastomer, and there is no problem of heat absorption or heat release. Although polyester resin and epoxy resin can be used under similar conditions, they have the disadvantage of exothermic curing.

2. According to the needs of processing and application, it can be made from low-viscosity oil to high-consistency paste or putty. By changing the catalyst type, dosage and vulcanization conditions, vulcanizates with different properties can be obtained.

3. The vulcanization process of RTV-1 rubber is slowly vulcanized from the outside to the inside by contacting the moisture in the air, while the RTV-2 rubber is vulcanized inside and outside at the same time.

4. RTV-1 glue has good adhesion to most substrates, while RTV-2 glue has good mold release properties to most substrates and has a small shrinkage rate, so it is widely used in making soft molds. When a tackifier is added to the compound or the surface of the substrate is first treated with a primer, the RTV-2 adhesive can also obtain good adhesion.

5. RTV-2 rubber has the heat resistance, cold resistance, weather resistance, arc resistance and electrical insulation properties of compounded silicone rubber and RTV-1 rubber, in a wide temperature range (-60 ℃ to 300 ℃) to maintain rubber properties, and has good vibration absorption.
