Applications Of High-Hydrogen Silicone Oil

High-hydrogen silicone oil, scientifically known as polymethylhydrosiloxane (PMHS), is formed through the polymerization of hydrogen-containing siloxane monomers. Due to the presence of reactive Si–H bonds, this material exhibits excellent reactivity and versatility, making it widely used in various industrial applications.

Application Areas

After emulsification and crosslinking treatment, high-hydrogen silicone oil can be used for moisture-proofing and waterproofing building materials such as ceramics, marble, and gypsum boards.

After emulsification, it can be blended with other silicone oil emulsions to provide waterproofing, softening, and smoothing finishes for textiles.

Through further hydrosilylation reactions, it can be converted into low-hydrogen silicone oil, which serves as an intermediate for the synthesis of various modified silicone oils.

It can be used for anti-yellowing treatment during the vulcanization process of silicone rubber.

High-Hydrogen Silicone Oil

Under the action of metal salt catalysts, high-hydrogen silicone oil can undergo crosslinking at relatively low temperatures to form a waterproof film on the surfaces of various materials. It is widely used as a waterproofing agent for fabrics, glass, ceramics, paper, leather, metals, cement, and marble, with particularly excellent performance in textile applications.

In addition, high-hydrogen silicone oil can be used as an anti-sticking release agent and crosslinking agent for paper treatment. It also serves as an anti-yellowing additive for high-temperature fluidized silicone rubber, a crosslinking agent for addition-cure silicone rubber products, and a diluent for silicone rubber inks.

Low-Hydrogen Silicone Oil

In addition to the characteristics of dimethyl silicone oil, low-hydrogen silicone oil contains active Si–H bonds, which enable it to undergo addition and crosslinking reactions. Through hydrosilylation reactions, it is widely used as an intermediate for synthesizing modified silicone oils and as a crosslinking agent for addition-cure silicone rubber systems.
