Characteristics and Applications of Polyether-Modified Silicone Oil
I. What is Polyether-Modified Silicone Oil?
Polyether silicone oil is a modified silicone oil with both hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups in its molecular structure. It possesses surfactant properties and is widely used as a foam stabilizer in polyurethane foams, a cosmetic raw material, a plastic additive, an anti-foaming agent, a fiber oiling agent, a fabric finishing agent, a coating additive, a defoamer, and in other fields. When used as a polyurethane foaming aid, it can stabilize foam and solubilize it. In product manufacturing, various organosilicon surfactants can be obtained by adjusting the number of silicone oil chain segments, changing the ratio of polyether (Eo) to polyether (Po), and altering the number of chain segments and terminal groups to meet the needs of various industries.
II. Product Characteristics
Low Surface Tension:The molecular structure of polyether-modified silicone oil gives it low surface tension, which facilitates the spread of liquids on solid surfaces and improves wetting properties.
Excellent Wetting Properties:Thanks to its low surface tension, polyether-modified silicone oil can quickly wet material surfaces, helping to improve the uniformity and adhesion of coatings, inks, etc.
Excellent Emulsifying and Dispersing Properties:Ether-modified silicone oil effectively promotes the mixing of oil and water phases, improving the stability of the dispersion system and making it an excellent emulsifier and dispersant.
Good Compatibility with Organic Surfactants:Polyether-modified silicone oil is compatible with a variety of surfactants, allowing it to be used as an additive in combination with other chemicals to enhance product performance.
Excellent Lubricity:The silicone oil groups endow polyether-modified silicone oil with excellent lubrication properties, reducing friction and extending equipment life.
Excellent Defoaming and Foam Suppression Abilities:Polyether-modified silicone oil has significant defoaming and foam suppression capabilities, effectively controlling foam formation and elimination, maintaining the cleanliness and stability of the liquid.
