There are two common methods for adding silicone defoamers:
1. Addition Before Foaming
This method involves adding the defoamer to the system before foam is generated. By preventing foam formation at the source, it effectively suppresses foaming in closed containers and equipment.
2. Continuous Dosing
When the foaming liquid is circulating or flowing, the defoamer may gradually be consumed by the continuous flow. In such cases, continuously dosing the defoamer can effectively control and eliminate foam. The use of a metering pump allows precise control of the dosage, ensuring the most economical and efficient use of the defoamer.

Precautions Before Use
1. Thoroughly Stir the Emulsion Before Use
The emulsion should be thoroughly mixed before application. An unevenly dispersed emulsion may separate or stratify, reducing the effectiveness of the defoamer.
2. Dilute the Emulsion Properly
Whenever possible, use a thickener when diluting the emulsion. Although silicone defoamers can be diluted with water before use, dilution may significantly reduce their stability and increase the risk of phase separation. Therefore, the use of a thickener is recommended.
If water dilution is necessary, slowly add water to the defoamer while stirring gently. The diluted product should be used on the same day it is prepared.
3. Prevent Freezing and Excessive Heat Exposure
Silicone defoamers are highly sensitive to freezing and excessively high temperatures, both of which can damage the product and impair its performance. If the defoamer has frozen, thaw it carefully and evaluate its condition before use.
