We are mainly talking about chain silicone oil today, which can be divided into: dimethicone oil, hydroxy silicone oil, hydrogenated silicone oil, phenyl silicone oil, alkyl silicone oil, alkyl & phenyl silicone oil, amino silicone oil, polyether modified silicone oil and so on.
The following is a description of several representative silicone oil varieties:
01 Dimethicone silicone oil
It is the most common, the largest dosage and the most widely used variety, which is widely used in defoaming, demoulding, lubrication and other industries. WACKER grades of dimethicone fluids are in the AK series and have viscosities ranging from 0.65 all the way up to 1 million. AK series silicone oil, also known as polydimethylsiloxane, has a straight chain composed of alternating silicon and oxygen atoms, of which trivalent silicon is saturated with methyl metal.

02 Hydroxy silicone oil
Hydroxyl substituting end group methyl groups can be used as a structure control agent for the production of room temperature silicone rubber or as a chain extender for the synthesis of other products. WACKER offers a wide range of high-viscosity FD series 107 adhesives and low-viscosity PDM linears.

03 Hydrogenated silicone oil
Hydrogen atoms replace one side of the methyl group, allowing it to be used as a raw material for the synthesis of other products to produce downstream modified silicone oils. In addition, hydrogenated silicone oil has the advantage of good waterproofing effect. It can be cross-linked to form a film at low temperature under the action of metal salt catalysts, and can form a waterproof film on the surface of various substances. It can be used as a waterproof agent for fabrics, glass, ceramics, paper, leather, metal, cement, marble and other materials. WACKER's high-hydrogenated silicone oil is manufactured under the grade WS61CN.

04 Phenyl silicone oil
The products obtained after part of the methyl group is replaced by phenyl group, according to the different content of phenyl group, can be divided into: low phenyl silicone oil, medium phenyl silicone oil and high phenyl silicone oil. Low phenyl silicone oil is suitable for low temperature working conditions, and medium and high phenyl silicone oil is suitable for high and low temperature lubricating oil for electronic and electrical due to its thermal stability and radiation resistance of high temperature resistance. WACKER's phenyl silicone fluids are available in the AP and AS series, with AP being high phenyl silicone oil and AS being low phenyl silicone oil.

05 Alkyl silicone oil
After part of the methyl group is replaced by alkyl groups with different carbon numbers, the product can show the characteristics of a part of the carbon-containing substance, and has the characteristics of excellent lubricity, mold release, hydrophobicity, anti-fouling, paintability and good compatibility with organic polymers. It has a wide range of applications in lubrication, car maintenance, mold release, etc. The longer the carbon chain, the higher the melting point, and the appearance gradually transitions from liquid to solid. WACKER's alkyl silicone fluids are GM161, 23166, W23 with a high melting point of WAX.

06 Alkyl Phenyl Silicone Oil
Based on alkyl silicone oil, a phenyl group is introduced to enhance the heat resistance of alkyl silicone oil. Generally speaking, alkyl phenyl silicone fluid, as the core raw material in the die casting release agent, with its excellent heat resistance, not easy to carbonize and other characteristics, help support the whole formulation to maintain the isolation between the metal products and the mold during the die casting molding process, and improve the negative impact of other silicone oils on post-coating. WACKER's alkylphenyl silicone fluids are TN, GM171 and GM191.
07 Amino silicone oil
Different amino groups are substituted for methyl groups to react and synthesize, the amino groups in amino silicone oil are highly polar, highly reactive, have adsorption, solubility, and easy emulsification, which can interact with the surface to enhance the binding force, and at the same time improve the surface brightness and deepen the color. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in the field of mold release and car care. WACKER amino silicone fluids are rated L653, L656, E155 and TPD.

In general, the amino silicone fluids used by WACKER for mold release are low viscosity, easy to emulsify, low residue and high brightness.
08 Polyether modified silicone oil
Polyether modified silicone oil has the largest amount and is widely used as a leveling agent, anti-fog agent, coating leveling agent, defoamer and pesticide spreader. WACKER's polyether silicone fluids are available in L053 and L066 grades.
