Side hydrogen silicone oil and end hydrogen silicone oil are two different types of silicone oil, and they have some significant differences in chemical structure, properties and applications.
First of all, from the point of view of chemical structure, the main difference between side and end hydrogen-containing silicone oil is the position of the hydrosilicon group in the molecule. In the chemical structure of hydrogen-containing silicone oil, the hydrosilicon group is located at both ends of the molecular chain, that is, two silicon atoms in the molecule are connected to two hydrogen atoms respectively. The side hydrogen-containing silicone oil is different, and its hydrosilicon group is located on the side of the molecular chain, that is, only one silicon atom in the molecule is connected to a hydrogen atom, and the other silicon atom is connected to other groups.
This difference in chemical structure leads to differences in their properties. The end hydrogen-containing silicone oil shows good emulsification ability in aqueous solution because the molecule contains two silicon hydrogen bonds. The water emulsification performance of side-hydrogen-containing silicone oil is relatively poor because there is only one silicon hydrogen bond. In addition, hydrogen-containing silicone oil also has good solubility and emulsification properties, which make it widely used as an emulsifier in surfactant, medicine, cosmetics and other fields.
In terms of application, there are also obvious differences between side and end hydrogen-containing silicone oils. Due to the high chemical and thermal stability of side-hydrogen-containing silicone oil, it is often used as a crosslinking agent in the preparation of polysiloxanes (also known as silicone polymers). The hydrogen-containing silicone oil plays an important role in the production of silicone modified block silicone oil, liquid silicone rubber and other products due to its unique emulsifying properties, and is also an important raw material for the synthesis of special silicone surfactants and dendritic polymers.
In general, there are differences in chemical structure, properties and applications between side and end hydrogen-containing silicone oils. Understanding these differences helps us to better select and use these two types of silicone oil.
