One. What is dimethyl silicone oil
Dimethicone oil is a linear polydimethylsiloxane with Si-O-Si as the main chain and methyl groups connected to the silicon atom. Due to the small intermolecular force, the molecule has a helical structure, with the methyl groups arranged outward and able to rotate freely. The structural formula is as follows:

Generally, dimethyl silicone oil on the market can be divided into three specifications according to its viscosity range: low viscosity silicone oil 0.65~50mm2/s; medium viscosity silicone oil 50~1000mm2/s; high viscosity silicone oil 5000~1000000mm2/s.
Two. Uses of Dimethyl Silicone Oil
1. As a sewing thread lubricant
Methyl silicone oil is widely used as an oil for fiber raw silk and raw cotton, as an oil for spinning, and as a lubricant for sewing thread. The lubricant for raw silk and raw cotton is a low-viscosity methyl silicone oil. The lubricant for sewing thread is a medium-to-high viscosity methyl silicone oil. Spinning oils made by using the thermal stability and low viscosity-temperature coefficient of methyl silicone oil, combined with antistatic agents, emulsifiers and other oils, are used in the spinning process of nylon and polyester to prevent the extremely fine single filament bundles from being charged and loosened when they are ejected from the spinneret and when they are quickly reeled up. When melting and preventing the wire, the nozzle should also be demolded with methyl silicone oil to prevent the attachment of carbides or melts and cause wire breakage.

2. As a defoaming agent, dimethyl silicone oil has a small surface tension and is insoluble in water, animal and vegetable oils and high-boiling point mineral oils. It has good chemical stability and is non-toxic. It has been widely used as a defoaming agent in the petroleum, chemical, medical, pharmaceutical, food processing, textile, printing and dyeing, papermaking and other industries. As long as 10-100PPM of silicone oil is added, it will have a good defoaming agent effect.

3. As a release agent, it is non-sticky to rubber, plastic, metal, etc. It is also used as a release agent for the molding of various rubber and plastic products, and is used in precision casting. Using it as a release agent not only facilitates demoulding, but also makes the surface of the product clean, smooth, and clear.

4. As an insulating, dustproof and mildewproof coating, a layer of 201 methyl silicone oil is applied to the surface of glass and ceramics, and then heat-treated at 250-300℃ to form a semi-permanent waterproof, mildew-proof and insulating film. It can be used to treat insulating devices to improve the insulation performance of the devices; it can be used to treat optical instruments to prevent lenses and prisms from getting moldy; it can be used to treat medicine bottles to extend the shelf life of medicines and prevent the preparations from being lost due to sticking to the wall; it can be used to treat the surface of movie films to play a lubricating role, reduce friction, and extend the life of the film.

5. It is used as a lubricant for rubber, plastic bearings, and gears. It can also be used as a lubricant for rolling friction between steel and steel at high temperatures, or for friction between steel and other metals.
6. Applications in the electromechanical industry: It is widely used in motors, electrical appliances, and electronic instruments as an insulating medium that is heat-resistant, arc-corona-resistant, corrosion-resistant, moisture-proof, and dust-proof. It is also used as an impregnating agent for transformers, capacitors, and scanning transformers for televisions. It is used as a liquid shockproof and damping material in various precision machinery, instruments, and meters. The shock-absorbing performance of dimethyl silicone oil is less affected by temperature, and it is mostly used in occasions with strong mechanical vibrations and large changes in ambient temperature, such as instruments in aircraft and automobiles.
7. As an additive, it can be used as an additive for many materials, such as a brightener for paint. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the paint can prevent the paint from floating and wrinkling and improve the brightness of the paint film. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to the ink can improve the printing quality. Adding a small amount of silicone oil to polishing oil (such as automotive varnish) can increase the brightness, protect the paint film, and have an excellent waterproof effect.
8. Application in medical and health care It is non-toxic to the human body and is not decomposed by human body fluids, so it is also widely used in the medical and health care industry. Taking advantage of its defoaming effect, oral gastrointestinal bloating tablets and pulmonary edema defoaming aerosols are made for medicinal purposes. Adding silicone oil to ointments can improve the drug's ability to penetrate the skin and improve its efficacy. Some ointments based on silicone oil have a good effect on burns, dermatitis, bedsores, etc. Taking advantage of the anticoagulant effect of silicone oil, it can be used to treat the surface of blood storage vessels and prolong the storage time of blood samples.
9. In other aspects, it is used as a heat carrier in oil baths or thermostats in industries such as steel, glass, and ceramics and in scientific research due to its high flash point, odorless, colorless, transparent, and non-toxic properties. It can be used as a hydraulic oil, especially aviation hydraulic oil, due to its good shear resistance. It can be used to treat rayon spinning heads to eliminate static electricity and improve the quality of spinning. Adding silicone oil to cosmetics can improve the moisturizing and protective effects on the skin, etc.
