Raw material preparation
Organic silicone oil: such as dimethyl silicone oil, as the main defoaming ingredient.
Emulsifier: Select a non-ionic surfactant with a matching HLB value (such as Span-80, Tween-80).
Thickener (optional): such as carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), to enhance stability.
Water: as a dispersion medium.
Preservative (optional): such as sodium benzoate, to extend the shelf life.
Production steps
Mix silicone and emulsifier:
Mix silicone oil and emulsifier in proportion (such as silicone oil: emulsifier = 10:1), heat to 60-70℃ and stir until uniform and transparent.
Prepare water phase:
Add thickener (such as 1-2%) to water, stir to dissolve, and heat to the same temperature as the oil phase.
Emulsification process:
Slowly pour the oil phase into the water phase, emulsify at high shear speed (2000-3000 rpm, 15-20 minutes) to form a stable emulsion.
Adjustment and post-treatment:
After cooling to room temperature, add preservatives and adjust the pH to 6-8 (citric acid or NaOH can be used).
After homogenization, let it stand for 24 hours and test the defoaming performance (such as vibration test).
Precautions
Emulsification effect: If the emulsion is stratified, the emulsifier ratio or shearing time needs to be adjusted.
Stability test: If there is no stratification after storage at high temperature (50℃) for 7 days, it is qualified.
Safety protection: Wear goggles and gloves during operation to avoid high temperature burns.

Application fields
Applicable to fermentation, sewage treatment, coating and other industries, the addition amount is generally 0.1-0.5%. The defoamer prepared by this method has both rapid foam breaking and long-term foam suppression capabilities.
Low hydrogen silicone oil (H-Si oil) is a kind of organic silicon material containing active Si-H bonds. Due to its high surface activity and reactivity, it is often used in the preparation of high-efficiency defoaming agents. Compared with ordinary dimethyl silicone oil, low hydrogen silicone oil can provide better anti-foaming performance and chemical stability, and is suitable for harsh environments such as high temperature, strong acid/alkali, etc.
