The so-called HTV silicone rubber and RTV silicone rubber are only silicone rubber industry. According to the different usage and performance requirements of silicone rubber products, the vulcanization systems of raw materials are set differently. It is divided into high temperature vulcanization system, the full name of which is high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, that is, HTV. And low-temperature vulcanization system, the full name of which is RTV.
As mentioned above, HTV and RTV have some differences in application and performance besides different curing systems.
Typical HTV silicone rubber products HTV, high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber. The raw material is an amorphous gel, similar to plasticine. If the silicone rubber raw material is molded, it must be provided with a high temperature of about 160℃. In order to achieve an accurate structure and size, the raw material must be put into a mold to complete the molding. Therefore, HTV is also called molded silicone rubber. Its typical products include: silicone keys, silicone rubber seals, silicone sleeves and other products.
Typical RTV products and uses RTV, room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber. It is usually liquid, and it starts to solidify after contacting with air, and the whole solidification process can be carried out at room temperature, without extra high temperature and matching with the mold. Typical products of RTV silicone rubber usually include: flexible glue, silicone adhesive, thermal conductive adhesive, potting adhesive, etc. In addition, some injection molded silicone rubber products are also a category of RTV, such as some adult products.
Generally speaking, HTV silicone rubber and RTV silicone rubber can't be substituted for each other except for a few sealing and waterproof applications.
